Ed Scott


Ed Scott is in his second year at the University of Louisville and first as Associate Director of Athletic Academic Support Services. He oversees the academic support for the Cardinals' basketball team.

A native of Kingston, N.Y., Scott served for two years in a similar capacity at the University at Albany, his alma mater. There he was responsible for providing academic guidance to approximately 250 student-athletes, oversaw the tutoring and study session programs for all 19 intercollegiate teams, and was the faculty advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He also taught two sections of the Student-Athlete Academic Recovery Class (STAAR 101) for new and returning at-risk student-athletes.

Scott graduated magna cum laude from the University at Albany in 2002 with a B.A. in psychology and minor in sociology. He earned an M.S. in Educational Administration and Policy Studies, with a concentration in higher education from the University at Albany in 2006.

As a center fielder and captain on the Albany baseball team, Scott earned first-team All-America East Conference honors as a senior. He was named the America East Conference 2002 Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, when he also was chosen as a Verizon Academic All-America national third-team selection. He was the first African-American male to receive the University at Albany's Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award and an ECAC Merit Medal as the top senior male student-athlete.

Scott was an assistant coach in two NCAA sanctioned collegiate wooden bat leagues: the Spartanburg (S.C.) Stingers of the Coastal Plains League in 2005; and the Saratoga (N.Y.) Phillies of the New York Collegiate Baseball League in 2006 when the Phillies won the league title.
