University of Louisville swimmer Leslie VanWinkle has competed in two of the three events for which she qualified for the US Olympic Trials in a meet that has showcased some of the fastest swimming in the world.

VanWinkle, the BIG EAST Swimmer of the Year, swam the 400-IM and won her heat, shaving three seconds off her lifetime best to qualify 37th on Sunday.

"She ran people down and won her heat and cutting that much time off her qualifying time was heroic," said U of L head coach Arthur Albiero.

On Tuesday in the 200-IM, Leslie went 2:20.66 to qualify 76th. She has the 100-free to swim this afternoon.
