2007-08 Seniors Graduate with Honors On and Off the Field

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - On May 10, the entire senior class of the University of Louisville field hockey team received their degrees in the university's graduation ceremonies: Janelle Avila, Missy Briery, Casey Diener, Marie-Claire Heller, Beth Latham, Allison Maffitt and Casey Meizinger become one of the most highly decorated classes in school history. "This group of seven seniors has had a great impact on our program both on and off the field," said U of L head coach Pam Bustin. "On the field and in the classroom, their collective dedication to the program has lead us to many successes within the conference and nationally. They have been role models for the classes that followed and have set the bar high for performance expectations for future Cardinal teams." This class of seven seniors capped a remarkable four-years on the field and in the classroom. With a combined 3.66 cumulative GPA as a class, they were an integral part as the Cards lead the nation in field hockey team GPA in 2005 and 2006. After the fall semester of their freshman year, these seniors also helped field hockey to the highest team GPA at U of L since spring of 2005. On the field, they won 52 games, three conference championships - the Mid-American Conference regular season and tournament in 2004; and the BIG EAST regular season in 2006 and 2007. They also helped Team Cardinal become a mainstay among the nation's top 20 throughout most of their careers. The following is a list of the class of 2007-08's accomplishments.
