7/14/08 Cards Earn League-High Four BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Awards
The University of Louisville had a league-high four student athletes honored by the BIG EAST Conference among the 21 winners of the 2007-08 BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Awards, which recognize academic and athletic achievement as well as community service. One athlete from each sport league-wide is selected, and the Cardinals were represented by Kristi Cunningham (softball), Joanna Haig (women's soccer), Steven Hnat (men's track and field) and Tarah McKay (women's track and field). The University of Louisville softball team finished the 2008 season with a 31-23 overall record - including a 12-8 BIG EAST Conference record. The youthful Cardinals, a team which fielded only three upperclassmen in the starting lineup, earned the program's fifth consecutive NCAA regional bid. READ MORE

The University of Louisville softball team fell to host, No. 13/14 Tennessee 8-1 in Saturday evening an NCAA Knoxville regional elimination game. The Cards close the season with a 31-23 overall record and their fifth consecutive NCAA regional appearance. READ MORE
